Title: I like it like that

Pages: 224
If you're not familiar with this series, you can check out my previous reviews on the books in the Gossip Girl series:
Gossip Girl #1
You know you love me #2
All I want is everything #3
Because I'm worth it #4
The quote below is an example. Serena just met a Dutch snowboarding team on holiday.
Quote:
page 126: 'Jan laughed and took a swig of dark amber beer. "We are not always snowboarding. I go to university in Minsk. I'm studying to be a dentist". "Oh." Serena had imagined that the whole team lived together in a cabin on top of a mountain in the Alps somewhere, snowboarding all day and getting drunk together every night. She'd thought it would be cozy, being the only girl in the group. She could cut their hair for them and make French toast for breakfast. '
Really, REALLY?? ,that's what she thinks...come on..
I think I'm really getting to old for these kind of books. It took me a long time to read this one, mainly because to me it was a boring book. It all emphasizes on the rich kids and how amazing they think they are. Blair even thinks going to rehab is a fun way to increase her chances on impressing a boy.
Reading this I just wanted to get it over with, so I could start a new, exciting book and quit reading the rest of this series. You can guess that's not a good sign..
I wanted to read this fifth book in the series, just to be sure. Now I know, this series just isn't for me.
However, I can understand 16, 17 year old girls would really enjoy reading these books. If you want to read a very light read and you're curious about how rich teenagers live and how they interact with their friends and classmates, you can give this a try. If you want to read a book with a good story and great characters, this is not the book for you.
I'll give this book 1 star, because I didn't enjoy reading it. And I read for fun!

Expectations
My expectations are not that great, to be honest. I didn't really love the other books, although I did like the increasing humor in the second and third book. I need to read this book just to see if it does get better.Review
Halfway trough the book I didn't see any progress in the story-line as well as the development of the main characters. The writing style is really annoying to me at this point, as well as the overall thoughts of the main characters. To me this book showed even more the lack of character-development and stayed with stereotype personalities then the previous ones in the series. The quote below is an example. Hi, saw your comment on book blogs and thought I'd stop by and follow you :)
ReplyDeleteI loved the TV series of Gossip Girl and have been meaning to read the books for some time, but at 22 I might be a bit old for them now!
Hi Vicki, thanks for following me!
DeleteI also loved the TV show and I think it's much better than the books(I'm 23 and yes, I feel to old for these books).
Happy reading!
It's always so disappointing to read a book that you spend the whole time wishing you were done reading. I hope the next book you read makes up for this one.
ReplyDeleteHi Angela, thanks for your comment. Yes, that is very disappointing. Fortunately I'm now reading Thrall, which is a very nice story to read!
DeleteHi there! I found your blog through goodreads, so I figured to stop by and say hello! I am now following your blog :)
ReplyDeleteI know exactly what you mean! I am 31 years old and I have noticed that while I do love many YA books, there are just some that I can't connect with and annoy me. While I haven't read any books in the Gossip Girl series, I have tried to watch some of the episodes of the tv series and it was just too boring for me. But I can definitely see what you mean about teens liking these types of stories more than us older people. Great review!
Anyway, feel free to stop by my blog sometime! Always looking for new blogger buddies to chat with and new followers!
Best Wishes,
