Expectations

I've read a lot of good and positive reviews about this book and about the author Stephanie Perkins. This will be the first book I read written by her. I expect a great and sweet love story and I'm so excited to start this one!

Synopsis from Goodreads:
Anna is looking forward to her senior year in Atlanta, where she has a great job, a loyal best friend, and a crush on the verge of becoming more. Which is why she is less than thrilled about being shipped off to boarding school in Paris--until she meets Étienne St. Clair. Smart, charming, beautiful, Étienne has it all...including a serious girlfriend.

But in the City of Light, wishes have a way of coming true. Will a year of romantic near-misses end with their long-awaited French kiss?

Review

I just couldn't stop reading this. It often happened that I catch myself reading this with a big smile on my face :D

The main character Anna is very easy to relate to. The awkward moments are perfectly described and are very recognizable (for me).

Anna is not happy to be send to Paris for her senior year, while she has a great life in Atlanta. Now she has to live in a different country by herself for a whole year. She feels scared and anxious at first, but with the friends she makes life in Paris is starting to actually be fun. One friend in particular makes senior year a lot of fun..

The love-interest is simply amazing. He is confident but not arrogant. He is naturally funny and kind. He is pretty but not vain. And the hair, his great hair.. :D

The author did an amazing job at writing the thoughts of a girl in love!

  • Does he like me more then just a friend?
  • What that a sign?
  • What does he mean when he says that?
  • Etc.
Yes, we definitely think like that, anyone who agrees?

The characters in this story are great. All the friends Anna hangs out with are nice characters.

I did think some parts were a little predictable but that didn't bother me. The story was so sweet and the surroundings very romantic (of course, it's Paris!) and I didn't want this book to end.

This book has become a new favorite of mine and I'm so excited to read more books by Stephanie Perkins. If you are looking for a good summer read that makes your heart skip a beat, read Anna and the French Kiss!! I'm sure you won't be disappointed!

Rating

I can't do anything else but give this book all my stars :D
