Bookreview Little Women!

Title: Little Women
Author: Louisa May Alcott
Series: Little Women #1
Release date: first published in 1868
Genre: classics
Pages: 449 pages

I'm excited to listen to the audiobook of Little Women. If you haven't read this, I would advise you to listen to the audiobook!

Warning: this review will contain spoilers!

I enjoyed listening to the audiobook.
The first part of the book was definitely my favorite.
I already new that Beth was going to die (because the tv-show friends spoiled me for that in the episode that Joey is reading this book). I think it was good that I already new this, because it would have destroyed me otherwise.

I loved reading about the christmas early in the book. It really showed the characters of all the girls. I actually loved the friendship between Jo and Laurence. I also like that they didn't end up with each other. Jo just didn't feel that way about Laurence. I do wonder how Laurence thinks he can just be friends with the girl he fell in love with.

I think what I liked the most was reading about the personal development of the girls. Amy's personal development was clear and nice to read about. She grows so much . Also really enjoyed Mary's growth, how she tries to balance her life with her children and husband.

I loved all the advice the mother gives to her daughters.

I enjoyed listening to it, but I have to confess, the last part of the book was getting a bit dull for me. I think it would have taken me a lot longer if I read it in stead of listen to the audiobook.

Bookreview The Queen's Army & Carswell's Guide To Being Lucky!

Recently I've reviewed the first two companion novels/novella's of The Lunar Chronicles. Now I'm back to review the other ones!

Did you miss my previous post? Here's my review of Glitches & The Little Android :)

The Queen's Army
The Lunar Chronicles #1.5
18 pages

I think  I would have enjoyed Ze'evs character in Scarlet more if I had read this before reading Scarlet.
Poor little  12-year-old Ze'ev,, saying goodbye to his family . I really felt for him, my heart goes out to him while reading this.
The first time the thaumaturge manipulated his mind.. ugh so awful.

Although this wasn't a happy story, it was very interesting to read and it felt too short.  I think I would have liked to read more about his growth from that 12 year old to an adult. still, I enjoyed reading about him.

Carswell's Guide To Being Lucky
The Lunar Chronicles #3.1
42 pages
This story is about young Carswell Thorne growing up.
Really enjoyed reading this short story. It was so funny to read.  Honestly, I wanted to continue reading his story and get to know him even more! I would have loved to see how he ended up in Beijing Prison!

These stories and more are now available in a book called Stars Above, check it out!

Have a great day everyone!

Bookreview Glitches & The Little Android!

Hi everyone!

After reading The Lunar Chronicles, I wanted to read all the companion novels/novella's written by Marissa Meyer, starting with these two!

The Lunar Chronicles #0.5
32 pages
A very short book! It felt more like a chapter to me, but nevertheless I was happy to read more about this world Marissa Meyer created. Glitches tells the story of young Cinder arriving at the family for the first time.  I enjoyed reading this. It was so nice and sad at the same time to read about Peony. She's such a lovely girl.. I would have liked to see more Iko!

Rating 3.5 stars
I was an enjoyable read :)

The Little Android
The Lunar Chronicles #0.6
35 pages

The Little Android is a short story and a retelling of The Little Mermaid. The android has a glitch in her programming, which makes her more human than all the other androids..
I enjoyed it, although I was a little disapointed this wasn't about Iko!

Free ebooks this week!

Dear readers,

I got some good news!

Smashwords is having a special offer this week.
From sunday March 5th until March 11th Smashwords has the ninth annual Smashwords Read an Ebook Week. Which means that during this week, thousands of books are offered for FREE ebooks or with a lot of discount!
As soon as I read this, I wanted to share this with my readers. You can search on author, genre, price, amount of words etc.
I've been scrolling through all the free books and there are so many I don't know which to choose!

I'll tell you about a couple books you can get for free:

The Last Man
by Tobias Wade

This fantasy book sounds very interesting, first book of a trilogy, and you can get the second book for free as well!

Farris did not believe in the old stories. Grandmother Rochette spoke of such strange things: monsters and magic and impossible heroes who could only exist in legend. But when Tom, her little brother, is kidnapped by the same monsters Grandmother spoke of, Farris is forced to change her view of reality in order to save him.

Prince of Wolves
by Quinn Loftis
This is a pretty popular book with a goodreads average of 4.06 stars.

Jacque Pierce was just an ordinary 17-year-old girl getting ready to start her senior year in high school in Coldspring, Texas. When a mysterious foreign exchange student from Romania moves in across the street, Jacque and her two best friends, Sally and Jen, don't realize the last two weeks of their summer are going to get a lot more interesting.

So, if you're interested, check the free ebooks out HERE

Have a great day everyone!

Bookreview Winter!

Title: Winter
Author: Marissa Meyer
Series: The Lunar Chronicles #4
Release date: november 2015
Genre: Science Fiction
Pages: 823 pages

Reviews of the previous books in this series:
#1 Cinder
#2 Scarlet
#3 Cress

I loved reading Cress and am so excited to see how this story comes to an end! If you haven't read this series yet, do not read this review, because it will contain some spoilers. I would definitely recommend reading this series!

It was a satisfying ending to a great series! I really liked this book. It was so action-packed! I loved the writing ( like all her books), although this book was very long, 823 pages!

Winter is an intriquing character, she was pretty unpredictable, I loved reading about her. I would have liked her to play a bigger part in the ending. She should have at least been there, at the last battle in the throne room!
Queen Levana was horrible to her too, so she should be there.

I loved the communication between Thorne and Cress! So cute, they are definitely my favorite couple! Although I love Cinder and Kai too. Thorne is so funny, he made me laugh out loud more than once.

It ended a bit too perfect for me, everyone survived and got their happy ending, but then again these are fairytale retellings so..

If I have to compare the four books, Cress would stille be my favorite, then Winter, Cinder and lastly Scarlet.

I would definitely recommend this series! Enjoyed it a lot. I haven't read the novella's yet, I will read those soon :)
